To carry out Jesus mission and concern for the last the least and the lost, Basilica has always played a significant role through its social activities.  It renders its services in the various spheres of the society irrespective of religion, language and gender.  Then a number of social organizations working successfully in the parish.  They are the following.

  1.   Kudumbakshemanidhi (Family welfare fund)  
     
 
 

By uniting all the family units in the parish, it help the poor in the parish.  The poor students are given monthly scholarship.  Those who are in need of continuous medical help are provided.  In emergency situations, it gives the patients the necessary financial help.  The pension given to the poor aged people monthly helps them for their daily living.  There are also various schemes for marriage assistance and self-employment. During the season of Easter and Christmas, the poor are provided with Christmas gifts like rice and cake.

  2.   Social Service Society:  
     
 
 

This is a registered charitable society, which stands both for the poor and the rich alike.  Having begun on 18th July 1990, the society has completed 13 years of service for the glory of God by bringing together and uniting the people of all religion and languages by its charitable services.  The key areas of concern by this society are assisting the poor girls of their marriage and the unemployed for self-employment, education and house  building.

  3.   St. Vincent De Paul Society (S.V.D.P)  
     
 
 

Like its founder, the society has a deep concern for the poor and the afflicted.  The society helps the poor by providing them with medicine, and food.  It also helps them make their houses and find self-employment.  The society has adapted 5 families and helps them for their daily living.  Interestless-loan to the poor for employment, education and house building is a great help for them.

This was formed in order to help those who approach the priest directly, with an urgent need for financial help in medicine, food, traveling ,education and marriage.

  5.   Health care society  
     
 
 

Health care society is a charitable  society registered under 1955 12th  Thiruvithamkore Kochi Sahithya Dharmasngangal Registerakal Act with Reg.No. 320/86. It is founded by His Ex. Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Kundukulam-dearly called 'The father of the poor', the first Metropolitan Arch bishop of Thrissur:- to help the poor and the needy patients especially in the medical college hospital, Thrissur.

 
 
  ::

A dedicated group of priests, Sisters, brothers, doctors and socially spirited young men is ready for service at Medical College Hospital.

 
 

::

Distribute medicines for the poor patients inside and outside the hospital.

 
  :: Daily serves noon meals for about 300 poor in-patients.  
  :: Free ambulance service is rendered to needy patients to carry them to nearby hospitals.  
  :: Rare group blood is arranged for the poor patients.  
  :: Dedicated group of sisters are caretakers of patients who are disowned and forsaken by family and relatives.  
  :: Conducts medical camps and seminars.

This is a service started by Bishop Joseph Kundukulam known as the father of the poor with the intention of providing lunch to the poor and the hungry people.  On all days except Sundays nearly 150 people come to Basilica for lunch and go back contented.
